Who we are

tamrielmap.com ("Tamriel Map", "we", "us") is an independent fan website about the world of The Elder Scrolls. This policy applies to every page of tamrielmap.com in every language. If you have any question about it, contact us at contact@tamrielmap.com.

Information we collect

We do not offer accounts, comments or sign-up forms, so we never ask you for your name, address or payment details. The only information involved in using the site is:

• Technical data that every website receives, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the page you asked for, the referring page and the time of the request. Our hosting provider processes this to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
• Your light or dark theme choice, which is saved in your browser's local storage on your own device and never sent to us.
• The contents of any email you choose to send us, including your email address.
• Information collected by advertising and analytics partners as described below.

How we use information

We use information only to:

• Show you the pages you request and keep the site fast and secure.
• Understand, in aggregate, which pages are useful so we can improve them.
• Reply to messages you send us.
• Show advertising that helps keep the site free.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Tamriel Map itself does not need cookies to work. We use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies (such as _ga) to count visits, and our advertising partners, including Google, may set cookies or use similar technologies such as local storage and device identifiers when ads are shown.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers also let you refuse third-party cookies. If you do, the site will still work, but the ads you see may be less relevant to you.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Where the law requires it, for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalised ads or advertising cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the site: which pages are viewed, how long visits last, which device, browser and approximate region they come from, and how people arrived here. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies for this and shows us the results as aggregated reports. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not combine it with other information about you.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are treated differently: there, analytics and advertising storage are switched off by default through Google Consent Mode, and they are only switched on if you give consent. Until then, Google receives only basic signals without cookies.

You can stop Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), or by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser. Hosting and service providers

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes the technical data described above to deliver pages, cache content and block attacks. Advertising is provided by Google. These companies process data under their own privacy policies and may handle it in countries other than your own, using legal safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Email

If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply and to fix any problem you report. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell or share your email. We delete correspondence when it is no longer needed.

How long we keep information

We do not keep a database of visitors. Technical logs are kept by our hosting provider only for a short period for security purposes. Advertising partners keep data according to their own policies, which you can read on their websites.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR in Europe and privacy laws in places such as California, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, to object to or restrict certain uses, to withdraw consent and to complain to a data protection authority. Because we hold very little information about visitors, most requests concern emails you have sent us. To make a request, write to contact@tamrielmap.com. We do not sell personal information.

Children

The site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other websites

Some pages link to other websites, such as community wikis. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please read their policies when you visit them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
