Where is Summerset Isles?
The Summerset Isles lie off the south-western coast of Tamriel, across the sea from Valenwood. They are the homeland of the Altmer, or High Elves, who see themselves as the closest heirs of the ancient Aldmer.
Geography
The archipelago is made up of Summerset Isle, the largest island, Auridon to the east, and smaller islands including Artaeum, home of the secretive Psijic Order. The climate is mild and the islands are known for orderly cities and vineyards.
Alinor is the capital, while Cloudrest, Lillandril and Shimmerene are other notable cities. The Crystal Tower, a centre of Altmer learning, stands on Summerset Isle.
History
The Altmer kept apart from mainland affairs for long periods, but they led the Aldmeri Dominion in the Second Era.
After the Oblivion Crisis the Thalmor, a nationalist movement, took control, renamed the realm Alinor and re-formed the Aldmeri Dominion, which fought the Empire in the Great War.
Summerset Isles in the games
The Summerset Isles appear in Arena. The Elder Scrolls Online covers Auridon, the starting zone of the Aldmeri Dominion, and Summerset Isle and Artaeum in the 2018 Summerset chapter.
